BQWCHC is delighted that the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has announced on March 3, 2020, $14M in funding to support the capital development of the new BQWCHC Quinte West site. The new building, located at 69 Catherine Street Trenton, will be the permanent home of the Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre (BQWCHC) - Quinte West site.
“This project has been in the works for a long time and it is very exciting that we can now build a permanent home for BQWCHC,” says Brad Harrington, President of the BQWCHC Board of Directors. “Thank you to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Quinte Health Care, and the City of Quinte West. Their generous support makes this development possible. This project will benefit to the entire community by creating more capacity for programs and more opportunities for partnerships.”
The new home for BQWCHC also represents Phase 1 of the Trenton Community Health Hub. “Having a broad range of services under one roof, and creating a space that can be used by the community for programs that promote wellbeing has always been part of what Community Health Centres are about. This announcement today helps us expand what that looks like in the Quinte West community,” says Sheila Braidek, BQWCHC Executive Director.
Construction started in early March and is scheduled to be completed in Sebtember 2021.
